HDMI info

HDMI is all digital audio/video interface for all hd sources , such a HD-DVD, Blu-Ray DVD, set-top box to transmit uncompressed streams to HDTV or HD display devices. The most current specification is HDMI 1.3. It has a total of 19 signals in HDMI cable. For more information of HDMI calbe purcahse information:

It is backward-compatible with DVI used on most of computer monitors. It has three TMDS channels. List brief TMDS spec as below:

* Video pixel rate: 25MHz to 340MHz ( data rate = 340 * 3 *8= 10.2Gbps )
* Audio sample rates: 32KHz, 44.1KHz, 48KHz, 88.2KHz, 96KHz, 176.4KHz, 192KHz
* Total Audio channel : up to 8
* Color depths: 30-bit, 36-bit and 48-bit (RGB or YCbCr)
* Cable length: Catagory1 ( HDTV) 5 meters ( 16 feet) ; Catagory 2 ( Greater than HDTV) can use higher-quality construction to reach langth of 12 to 15 meters or even using active cables to reach 100 meters.

HD-DVD price is below $400

HD-DVD player price is now below $400 from Toshiba

There are many HD-DVD players introduced by Toshiba:
HD-A1 , HD-A2, HD-XA1 and Hd-XA2

The Full HDTV , resoluation 1920X1080, will boost the demand for HD-DVD players. Expecting componenets for HD-DVD such as pich-up heads, chipsets will be reduced in the second halt of 2007. There will be room for prices to be dropped even lower.
